He is a natural story teller, a trainer steeped in ensuring that foundational principles are the bedrock of his instruction, and he has been a part of thousands of troubleshooting calls with customers, former students, and industry leaders. The journey to starting the training center came out of a desire to help transform industrial leaders after a career working in the field and pouring over schematics, oil reports, and data sheets. What started as impromptu gatherings has morphed into a dedicated training space with room for 12 students and the lab and classroom facilities to support their growth and curiosity. While still a principal of Advanced Hydraulic Solutions, his field services arm, he has turned the day to day operation of that venture over to his son and protégé, Michael McLoughlin.

In addition to Scott, classes have guest instructors made up of former students who operationally work with the concepts and ideas offered by Scott in the curriculum. Local leaders with a unique point of view who address topics like:

How do you manage a stock and inventory program
How do you sell up as you evaluate what is possible versus what adds value to the selling strategy
How do you create persuasive capex plans
How do you know when to fix (get it working now) versus when to repair (make it last a while)

These round table no-holds-barred discussions introduce students to a variety of perspectives and by-pass the politics (culture) of many organizations. Again, to learn in a principle-based hands-on environment, we need to move past FEAR and EGO – finding partners in the journey who carry the same tools with the benefit of knowledge at their backs goes a long way to breaking down these barriers in our classes.
